4.2. Erasing Traces

BitRaser File Eraserprovides the option to erase all the data traces that are found in the system. Data traces include, the tracescreated during the usage of the system, the internet traces created by the web browsers, the system traces created by the operating system, and the application traces created by the apps. This option scans your system for the traces and lists them.

Steps to Erase Traces:

1. RunBitRaser File Eraser.

2. SelectErase TracesfromSelect Option标签显示在屏幕的左侧窗格。

3. ForErasing Traces, the software uses a default set of scan settings. To change the saved scan settings, clickSettingsfrom menu bar and follow the given steps:

1. 1. Click onErase Tracestab in the center.

1. 2. BitRaser File Eraserprovides three different options to erase the traces:

      1. Erase Traces ofInternet Activity

      2. EraseApplication Traces

      3. EraseSystem Traces

Refer toSettings to Erase Tracessection of the user manual to know more about these options.

1. 3. Either click (+) or double click on the option to expand.

1. 4. Check against the respective sub-categories that you want to scan for traces. Select the checkbox ofrequired option to select all the sub-categories of that option.

Note:Click onResetto set all the settings to default.

1. 5. ClickOK. The software takes you back toErase Tracesscreen.

4. Either click (+) or double click on the option to expand.

5. Check/Uncheck against the respective sub-categories that you want to erase. Select the checkbox ofrequired option to select all the sub-categories of that option.

6. Click onErase Nowfrom the bottom right of the screen to start the erasure process.

7. Confirm Erasuredialog box appears to confirm whether you want to erase the selected data permanently. ClickProceedto continue.

8. A screen showing the progress of erasure process is displayed as shown below:

9. After successful erasure completion,Process Completedwindow appears with theErasure Summaryof deleted files.

10. ClickOKto finish the process.
